Aiden is 1 Month Old!

Congratulations to Miranda and Aiden for surviving their first month together. The little stinker still gives us grief in the middle of the night, but it is not nearly as bad as it was 2 weeks ago. Go to the gallery for more photos.

You want me to do what?

Emma has been walking around the house singing some mangled lyrics from one of her Disney Princess songs.

Emma: "Swallow your heart!! SWALLOW YOUR HEART!! Swallow year heart"

Sydney has been following her around correcting her. "Not swallow! FOLLOW! Follow your heart Emma! Not swallow!"

Question and Answer...

Q: Sydney, how much do you love Daddy?
A: "This much." (see photo)

We took many more photos of Sydney. Technically they were her 3-year photos (3 weeks late).

Where the Wild Things Are...

WHERE THE WILD THINGS ARE is one of Sydney's favorite books. In the book, when Max arrives at the island with the wild things, they "roared their terrible roars and gnashed their terrible teeth and rolled their terrible eyes and showed their terrible claws." Sydney now loves to roll her terrible eyes. I'm not kidding. That's really what she is doing in the photo on the left.

Technobabble

Emma has some allotted time each week where she likes to play games at the PBS kids website. She has become quite computer savvy. I was working on the computer recently and Emma came up and started to explain to me how computers work.

Emma explains the theory behind the closing of an internet browser window:
"If you don't "x" that, it will still be there."

Emma explains screen savers:
"Sometimes the screen will be black, but then you just move the mouse and it will still be there."

Potty Humor

Emma doesn't mind a trip to the potty for #1, but a trip to the potty for #2 will put her in a foul mood.

Today she told me, "This is my LAST 'going poo-poo', from now on I'm just going to go pee-pee FOREVER!"

Do You Hear What I Hear?

Aiden's Chicken Legs

I was reviewing some photos we had taken when Emma came up behind me and started looking at the photos as well. When we came to this photo Emma exclaimed, "Hehehehe, Look at that cute little bum!"

What Does Your Tummy Say?

Miranda will sometimes use the phrase, "My tummy says 'I'm hungry'."

The girls have picked up on this. And now they have extrapolated it slightly. The "tummy" seems to have become the brain of the body.

Sydney is so cute right around bedtime when she looks up at you with those sleepy eyes and says in a soft voice, "My tummy says 'I'm tired'."

Off to Work

It has been a bit of a challenge explaining to the girls why Daddy has to leave and go to work every morning. A frequent question around the house is: "Daddy, is today a work-day?" We have explained that Daddy has to go to work to earn money so we can buy the things we need.

As I left for work this morning, Emma saw a nickel on the ground. She ran and grabbed it and handed it to me. "Here is some money Dad. Now you can go to work and buy us clothes and houses."

Aiden Update (almost 4 weeks)

Aiden is almost 4 weeks old. To date he has been our most challenging baby. His health is fine, but more than the two girls, he has been working on his own schedule. He doesn't eat like he should (quickly) and he doesn't fall back asleep after eating in the middle of the night. He is certainly his own little man.

The girls love him. They are always in his face saying "goochie goochie goochie!!! HI AIDEN!!! goochie goochie goochie!!!"

Typical Exchange:
Aiden: *asleep on the floor*
Sydney: "goochie!! goochie!! I love you Aiden!!" *pats his head* *rubs his tummy* "goochie!! goochie!! Mommy, Look!!! Aiden is waking up!!!"

When I grow up...

I asked both girls what they wanted to be when they grow up.

Dad: Emma, what do you want to be when you grow up?
Emma: Hmmmmm. A baseball player.
Dad: Why?
Emma: Cause I love baseball. I wanna play baseball with you dad.

Dad: Sydney, what do you want to be when you grow up?
Sydney: Hmmmm... maybe a daddy?
