Brag Alert!

It's that time of the school year when parents get to brag about their kids.  Festivals, competitions and productions are all happening before the school year winds down.  Of course, all these events have been altered to some degree.  But, we've been grateful for the chance to participate in something again.

Sydney has really  raked in the awards.  She participated in a Shakespeare competition at Walden.  She was able to advance to the Southern Arizona chapter and win 2nd place.  The judges couldn't believe that she was a Freshman and had so many good things to say about her monologue (From the Merchant of Venice).  She even won $75!

She also played the leading role in the schools production of "Antigone Now" which won a superior rating at state.  Her solo performance also won a superior award at state.

A week after those awards, Sydney was contacting from the local Monte Awards organization saying she had scored high enough on her application performance (Into the Woods) to compete.  This is a pretty big deal (only 40 kids in all of southern Arizona are chosen).  She spent two Saturdays attending choreography and acting workshops and submitting more videos for judication.   She was recently told she was chosen as a semi-finalist.  That means she get to submit another video and participate in their showcase performance in May.

Go Sydney!!

Emma spent countless hours preparing for the A Capella competition.  She arranged all the music, sang solos, did the vocal percussion, and helped record and edit their video.  It was fun to watch all the videos submitted.  They didn't advance, but it was fun to see all her work come to life.

Emma is starting to apply for scholarships and studying for AP test, so she'll have lots more to brag about soon.

It's so fun to see these high schoolers succeed.  They are both so talented and work hard!
