Over the River and Through the Woods

 To Grandmother's house we go!

Both Taylor and Aiden got to spend some time at their grandparent's this month.  Grandma Robertson invited all the 10 year-olds to her house for a week of fun.  So, Aiden decided to tag along and spend time at the Robertson's.  They flew to Utah with this good looking bunch (who all came down to see Frozen).

Unfortunately, everyone was so busy with activities, there were not photos taken.  They did ice skating, water parks, baked and decorated cookies, had Christmas in July, went to the lake, and did an escape room!  Aiden also played hard at the Robertson's and loved some boy time!

Just a week later, they were flying to Oregon to visit the Jackman's.  I flew them up and stayed for a few days (hence some photos).  The kids took the dog on several walks each day, played tons of video games, picked berries and went on a 8 mile hike with beautiful waterfalls.  After I went home, they also drove to Crater Lake for a few nights.

I am so grateful for extended family.  We have the best ones! What a blessing to have grandparents, cousins, aunts, and uncles, who all love you and make an effort to spend time together!

Frozen Take Two

How wonderful to be writing about another HEY Productions play!  This one was especially satisfying to see Sydney as Elsa finally.  Also, Taylor was cast a young Elsa and had several lines and solos.  Aren't they the cutest?

I'm not sure if Elsa or Ana is supposed to be the big lead in this musical, but Sydney was the star of the show for sure!  Her acting was so good.  Her crying was so real and she had a commanding stage presence.  But, her large musical numbers are what really stole the show.

The "Let it Go" scene was an awesome number! Her gloves and cape flew off stage and the onstage costume change was incredible!  Even on slow motion video, it's hard to see how it was done (a stealthy Addison ripped off the top dress from behind which was secured with magnets)
It was flawless and Sydney played the part perfectly!

Caleb (left) was the priest at her coronation

This was exact moment her costume changed.  You can see the black sleeves coming off

It was also fun to see all the little girls who wanted to see Elsa.  It was just like at Disneyland.  Sydney played the part and posed for a lot of photos.

It took us a while to convince Kensley that this was Sydney.  But, then she was one of many admirers.

Taylor had so much fun with a larger part.  She has really started to become a strong singer and is learning to control her nerves.  The directors mentioned how well she did in auditions.  It was fun to see her perform!  She worked hard and was a great leader for the younger kids.  You couldn't even tell she was nervous.  I was so proud of her!
