My goal this week is to update all the birthday people that we've had in our family. I will start with myself (no, I am not my favorite subject, I just am the most recent birthday, and thus, the most fresh memories).
My birthday was great this year. Brent happened to have the Friday off, which was fun. I slept in until 7:15 and woke up to flowers and presents wrapped. Sydney had also made me about three cards/books/pictures by then and the pile grew all day long. After opening presents (I got a Kindle, which I never knew I wanted and I can hardly rip from Brent's fingers these days), we did a few chores and got ready for our hot date. My sweet sister-in-law watched the kids while we went to Red Robin and did some shopping. Brent even did a great job of talking withe me at lunch instead of watching the TV (which is ALWAYS right behind me). He was super patient while I tried on clothes and even gave me feedback on what to buy. What a great girlfriend, uh, I mean husband he is.
We made it home just in time for our good friends the Billings to come over and watch the BYU football game. Amy quickly took over my kitchen making us a delicious steak Gorgonzola salad. We then topped off the day with one of her amazing German chocolate cakes (my favorite). I then took the Carlsen kids home to bed since Robyn was out with her hubby. I got to read on my kindle and watch a chic-flick.
All-in all, it was a great day. I'm not sure how I feel about being 31. I'm no longer a young mother. I'm kind of an almost old mother. The 20's sure were great times. I'm sure I'll say that about the 30's in 10 years too. I sure hope so!

Who is Amy, and when can she move in next door to ME? Glad the day went well, and good job Stepping Up to the Plate, Brent! As far as the Kindle goes, I got one a few months ago and am finding I like it--not for ALL my reading, but for toting around.
The term you are looking for is seasoned mother! As you leave your Spring season of life behind, welcome to Summer! It's lots and lots of fun. :-)
