Best Friends....Still

As soon as I wrapped up Aiden's baptism and Sydney's birthday, I hopped on a plane to North Carolina to meet up with all my college roommates.  Annie and Anna are living a few hours apart, so they hosted us and we rented a beach house for a few days.
Summer, Amee, Me, Annie, Aliza, Anna, and Jenny

It was so fun to watch the BYU vs. Utah football game with the same girls I went to games with years ago.  (By the way, we have all learned a lot more about the game and I was even impressed with the intelligent comments we made.....Brent would've been proud).

We mentioned how our college experience with each other probably isn't very typical.  The fact that we are still getting together 17 years later is pretty amazing.  I tell my girls about how awesome college was and they see me loving these friends years later and they look forward to having that experience.  I pray that they get to have what I have.  These friends have changed me for the better.  Love them!

We mostly sat on the beach, went out to dinner and stayed up late talking. We had brought old college photos and reenacted them.  It was hilarious.

I know I say this every time I get with these girls, but it is so great to have friends like these.  We open up to each other about our struggles, everyone listens and loves each other.  I know that they support me.  If I needed them, anyone of them would be at my house in a moments notice.  That's pretty awesome!  When we get together, we are real, honest, comfortable, uplifted, renewed and happy.  They make me feel great.  They make me feel like I am a great person who can do great things.  They are so so fun.  They are so so good.  I am so so blessed!

I Love him inspite of him

Helping this boy with homework each night is a huge test of patience.  He would rather do anything besides write his spelling words.  I am constantly reminding him to focus, finish writing that one word, and stop chatting.  It can be very frustrating.  However,  many times during this process, I look over at him being his spunky self and think, "Man, I sure love that boy!"

Boys, Baptism, Blocking, and Building

My boy turned 8 and got baptized.  Crazy!  His baptism was over Labor day weekend, so lots of people were able to come.  It was fun to have so much family here.

We did a little party at the park afterwards.  While everyone was here, we also tried our hand at ice blocking.  It wasn't the best ice blocking hill, but we still had fun.

Aiden has really taken off on his reading lately.  I think he's finally found some books he enjoys.  He is also still an avid soccer player.  he is very excited to start cub scouts and has already memorized the scout oath and scout law.
As always, he requested a soccer cake.

This sweet boy melts my heart daily.  He is thoughtful and kind and always looking for ways to make me happy.  He is an awesome big brother to Taylor.  They are good buddies.

From both his grandparents, Aiden received Home Depot gift cards.  He was ecstatic.  Grandpa Robertson took him to Home Depot and he came home with his own hammer, some nails, some wood, several pulleys and hooks. They spent the afternoon together making a swing for our tree and a pulley delivery system.  Aiden was in heaven.  He has since confiscated all our scrap wood and built all sorts of things in the backyard.  It is so fun to see him engineering and building.

Fathers and Sons..(and very grateful wives and mothers)

Love that this boy has a daddy who can help him nail and screw and saw things.  Aiden's assignment was to build and urban city.  I love so much about this photo.
