Summer Adventures

Our summer was pretty packed.  Or at least my kid's summer was.  Aiden spend the first 6 weeks doing summer school (Geometry) in order to get ahead in school.  Emma partied for a few weeks and then got a job working at Starbucks (which she has loved).

Taylor started off her summer, with a nasty skin infection.  It started out looking like hives and swelling, but then turned into scaly, itchy, tender raised areas. Her eye was swollen shut and the rash was all over her legs and half her face.  The doctor said he thought it was cellulitis and gave her two different antibiotics. The burning and itchiness last another week, but it finally started clearing up after 7 days of medicine.  Unfortunately, I think she has permanent scars on her legs.

We did manage to squeeze in some fireworks on the 4th of July.

And then headed to Utah the next week for Aiden's soccer camp.  He had a great time even though he went without a friend.  Logan Spear from our ward ended up being down the hall, so they hung out a bit.  I even got to go watch a few games at the end of the week.  It's always fun to see him play!

At the same time, Sydney was driving to/from campus every day for Young Ambassador's camp.

She had a blast!  We all got to go watch her performance at the end of the week.  Sydney is really great on stage.  She had a short solo and nailed all her moves.  She has picked up dancing technique quickly and is loving it!

While they were gone, I hung out with these three girls (Taylor, Grace, and Autumn).  We went ice skating, paddle boarding, to a nickel arcade, and watched several of Sam's baseball games.

Taylor and I did baptisms at the temple on the morning my parents were working.  It was fun to be there with her and them.

As soon as we got back, Taylor headed up to girls camp and had a marvelous time.

She came home just in time to celebrate her 12th birthday,

and then Aiden, Brent and I, left for his teenage trip the next day.

Sounds like it was a great summer.

Poor Taylor! Sam had a rash a lot like that when he was working in a forest in Northern California. It started on his legs and moved to most of his body. The doctor, who had seen other cases like his, eventually decided it was poison oak, and it took six weeks to completely clear up.
